A nurturing place for both children
and their grown-ups.
Because a replenished parent means
a replenished child.

To many people,
New York might
seem like a hostile place
to raise children.

But we beg to differ.

A nurturing place for both children
and their grown-ups.
Because a replenished parent means
a replenished child.

ABOUT US

For a child to truly blossom, it requires a few ingredients, no matter what densely populated metropolis they might be in: community, guidance, rest, curiosity, and autonomy. And for parents to be the best parents (and humans) that they can be, they need all of that plus mental and emotional support.

These ingredients almost feel too obvious, and yet for many, they feel so hard to attain. They feel like philosophical concepts for which no one has a manual on how to actually build them. Casa Primary exists precisely for this reason. To become THE space where parents and children get to access all of these ingredients.

Our space isn’t your usual playground of overstimulating colors and random noise. Every detail here has intention. The earthy hues on our walls aren’t chosen at whim—they’re grounded in science, shown to ease stress for both children and adults.

Even the lighting here has purpose. Each studio lamp is carefully dimmed to a precise balance, creating an atmosphere where imagination can expand and creativity feels effortless. At Primary, nothing is ornamental. Everything is designed for attunement, calm, and wonder.

“I found Primary during my postpartum journey,

a time when everything felt both beautiful and overwhelming.”

“Living in Tribeca and balancing work while raising a little one means shifting between

so many worlds in a single day. Primary became the place that held all of that for me—a space

that nurtured both me and my child, where I didn’t have to choose between being a mother

and being myself.

Primary has given me a deeper understanding of how my child grows, learns, and connects—and that’s been such a gift. It’s a gentle reminder that motherhood isn’t about losing who you are, but about becoming more of yourself—with community, care, and support along the way.”

Our Founder’s story

A Catskills and Texas native, Hadassah’s connection to nature and the wonder of childhood has shaped her approach to education from the very beginning. As the eldest daughter, initially homeschooled by her mother in her early years, she experienced firsthand the power of curiosity-driven learning grounded in love, stability, and exploration. She later navigated both public and private school systems, giving her a broad understanding of how different learning environments shape development.

Across more than a decade in early childhood education—including leading a Montessori school in New York City as Head of School — she has worked with children of all learning styles, including neurodivergent and neurotypical abilities, from Autism to Cerebral Palsy. Through Montessori and developmental psychology, she observed the profound impact of environments designed to honor each child exactly as they are.

Dr. Montessori reminds us, “Children are human beings to whom respect is due,
superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.” What an extraordinary thought—that in their purity and potential, children hold within them the seeds of a better world.

Our role is not to direct their genius but to create an environment that respects and nourishes it, allowing it to blossom. This belief is at the heart of what we are building. Contrary to what we’ve been told—that “no one is special”—we recognize that brilliance is as common as dirt, and there is extraordinary in everyone. Our work is about fostering a space so rich in inspiration and support that it becomes impossible for a child not to discover their unique value.

Together, we are nurturing a concept that has the potential to reimagine how we raise
our families in NYC and beyond.

We hope to have you here at Primary.

With gratitude,
Hadassah, Founder
